From Celia Randell, Chair of Governors
After 10 years as the dynamic Head of Dulwich Prep London and forty years in the profession, Michael Roulston has decided to retire from teaching and will be leaving the Prep in July 2019.
The Governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Louise Davidson as Michael’s successor. Louise is a charismatic leader with a genuine love of children and interest in the way they learn, and an overall vision for education. She has 20 years of experience in both the private and maintained sectors. She has an outstanding reputation for strategic thinking and for realising the potential of all the children and staff under her Headship.
A strong advocate of CPD, Louise believes that the Prep offers the opportunity to lead best practice in teaching and to give children the courage and ambition to engage with a rapidly changing world. She is a keen sportswoman and supporter of the performing arts and has led several schools in broadening the range of their extra-curricular activities – a strong vote of confidence in the Prep’s vision.
From Michael Roulston, Headmaster
Following the announcement of my retirement with effect from the end of this academic year (and what a year I hope it will be!), I am delighted that the Governors have appointed Louise Davidson as my successor. Louise, who visited us with her family in early July, will be popping in throughout the year to spend time getting to know boys, staff, parents and possibly even the innermost workings of the Prep! From Easter, she will be particularly busy in London visiting our feeder schools and the senior schools to which we regularly send boys at 11+ and 13+, preparing for our handover at the end of the academic year. I will be writing later with details of opportunities you will have to meet Louise, but before then I thought you would appreciate a little snapshot of what makes her ‘get out of bed in the morning’, so thank you to Louise for being so insightful and forthright in answering our questions.
